Cicada observation

Kia ora

Last week we have been looking around our school for a evidence of a life form; cicada shells.  We found about 24 shells, and when we came back inside we had to make a cicada observation about how the shell looked, tasted, felt, smelled and what we heard. Here is my work I have done:

  1. Kia ora Sienna, the power of observations are so important in science. To take a moment to look, listen, feel, smell and touch can tell you so much about something. You have used your powers of observation really well and have told us lots of interesting findings about the cicada exoskeleton. Do you know in some cultures eating insects is a delicacy?!

  2. Hmmm, Sienna I wonder how you knew that the taste of a cicada was salty and muddy at the same time?
Cicada exoskeleton's are very fragile, I wonder if they are crunchy.
Do you know why cicada's make the noise that they do?
