Play, Make, Create

 Kia Ora!<3

On Friday, we did Play Make Create. This is where the teacher reads you a story and you discuss the message in the story. Then you create something based on the message and also do a piece of writing. You can use materials or make a digital creation.  This week Mrs Craig Read the book: One for you and two for me.

 It was about the importance of friendship and sharing thing fairly.

 I chose to make friendship bracelets for my friends. My friends copied me of course😒. I made a bracelet with yellow, white, and this light orange colour I made one for my friend and she liked it!. It took pretty long like 20 minutes, But I got it! We also had to make a recpie that had to be about strawberries. I chose to make a strawberry milkshake.

Vaseline Saucers 2021

Kia Ora! 

We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine:

Play, Make, Create

Hello!

On Friday, we did Play Make Create. This is where the teacher reads you a story and you discuss the message in the story. Then you create something based on the message and also do a piece of writing. You can use materials or make a digital creation.  This week Mrs Craig Read the book: That’s Not the Monster We Ordered.

  It was about being grateful for what you have.

 I chose to design a Monster, and we also had to make a writing review task. For my Monster I chose to give it a purple vest with yellow buttons. And I cut a spoon in half and glued them on different sides of this little white box I made for its body. I gave it yellow arms and blonde hair. I also gave it orange eyes and one leg to jump. I chose to name my Monster Emily. Here is my work:

Play, Make, Create

It was about how to hold, & control your feelings.

 I chose to Make a tree. I cut the top open to put all these worry, feeling notes in the top. For the writing we had to write about how we would feel if you were alone in the middle of the ocean.

3D Clock

 Hello!

Yesterday, for maths we had to read a step by step procedure for making a 3D clock. It was very tricky. We had to measure in centimetres to make equilateral triangles, measure the angles with a protractor to check they were 60 degrees, make a clock face and arrows and tie it all together with string. I was glad when I finished. The clock hands were the hardest part. Here is a picture of my clock.

This week for Play, Make, Create we read a book called Wombat stew. I decided to make a trap to catch a Wombat for the dingo to make a Wombat stew. I made a video of trapping the wombat and we also had to piece of writing about how to make Wombat stew. Here is my work:

Solving word problems

 Another thing we have been  learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different   combinations as we could. 

Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off-a mathematical table.

I chose to make something with glitter for my two friends. I created it on a white piece of paper and it had their name on it with glitter!:>

Coding of a Cicada life cycle

We have coded our own unplugged program of the five stages of the cicada life-cycle. We have included some obstacles too. The goal is to be able to have someone follow our codes to navigate our life-cycle by getting from stage 1 to stage 5 and avoiding the obstacles. Here are some examples of our coded life-cycles.
