Maths

Kia ora
We have been learning about how to use Compatible Numbers. Compatible Numbers are any two numbers which add together to make a Tidy Number

(a  number which ends in zero).  We had to choose two Compatible Numbers and another number. Then we had to think of a word problem which used our numbers and give the problem to a buddy to solve. Mrs Ogle, our maths facilitator, said this is called 'posing problems'. Then we had to make up our own word problem. This is mine I made up. Jimin had six bts concert tickets and Oli brought four concert tickets. But then Rm got given one concert ticket. How many all together? 6+4+1=11. That's what mine was. We had to work with buddy's , my buddy's name was Cruz. All our word problem's were mostly all bts. That's all I have to say. I loved talking to you. Bye.

Ski trip

Hello
We have finally had our ski trip. It was amazing. We are at the snow , skiing. This is me. When I first saw this photo I wondered why I looked so much like a little baby. I crashed a lot at first. But when we had a lesson I was very good at it.  We came back on Thursday , that's when I felt weird skiing because I thought I might fall over lots and get hurt. But my friend helped me out. At the first time I felt like an ice cube my hands were cold like ice. My face kept getting snow on it and it was the coldest place I have ever been too.
Well that's all for today , Bye.

Measurement heads

Hello
This week we have been doing measurement for maths. We each have our own maths groups. In my group I have two boys and two girls, including me. First, we had to estimate the circumference of our heads, then we used a piece of wool around our heads and estimated its length.  Finally we used a metre ruler to measure the exact length of the wool. I learnt that my head was 51 cm around.
Here is my measurement maths heads that I have done.

Chiken diva art

Hello
This week we read a book called Whitney and Britney: Chicken Divas. It is a funny book about two girl chickens who like to get dressed up and perform on stage. After we read the book we all decided to do some art . Step 1: Draw a random chicken. Step 2:  Colour it in with pastels. Step 3: Cut out. Step 4: Glue on a coloured piece of paper. Step 5: If your chicken is small you will need to cut out again but show some of your coloured piece of paper. Step 6: Glue on a black piece of paper. Step 7: Glue some accessories on like beads ,fake pearls , feathers , strings and other more cute-looking stuff. Step 8: You can either staple it to the wall or put it into your art stuff box if you have one. Step 9: You're done. Here is a photo of my art.

Times Tables Testing

Hello
This week we have been doing maths about times tables. We have buddies. My buddy was Joe and I made him do all the answers and work. The answers that I got wrong were: 2x9=18 , 5x8=40 , 5x9=45 , 5x4=20. The reason I got some wrong was because we had to say them fast and write them down fast too. The times tables that we had to do were: 2x , 5x , 10x , 3x , 4x , 6x , 8x , 7x and 9x.

Science: Me and my DNA.

This term for science we are learning all about how the human body works and how special we all are. We are also trying to learn how to think and act more like a scientist. So, Miss Fletcher asked us to look at our faces in the mirror and write down notes about what we look like. The information had to be precise and clear so that when someone read it, it would help them find the person it described quickly. It was a bit like being a detective. You had to look and notice things carefully.

Miss Fletcher said that what we look like depends on our mother and father. Making a new human is a bit like making a cake.  You get some ingredients from your mum and some from your dad. The ingredients are called DNA. Everybody’s cake is different to everyone else’s.

Miss Fletcher said the person with the most efficient description was Andrew J as he wrote: My hair is 1cm long all over. He is the only student in Team Moana with a haircut like that so he was able to be identified very easily. You can read my description below.

Maths: Geometry Safari

term for maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D geometry. Jayme, Kaira and I were in a team. We went on a Geometry Safari around the school grounds to see how many 2D  and 3D shapes we could find. Then we had to write what we had found into a table. You can see ours below.

Fake whaitebait fritters

This term for our novel study, Mrs A read us Whitebait Fritters which is a novel written by a Kiwi author Kingi McKinnon.  My favourite part in Whitebait Fritters was when They went fishing.

To wind up our learning we decided to make some fake whitebait fritters because we can’t afford to buy real whitebait. We used grated potato to take the place of whitebait and mixed it with eggs and onions. They were really tasty. Then we had to write out the recipe, put it on a Google Drawing and add some images. You can see my work below.
